ESO 383-76 (Abell 3571 BCG) is a supergiant elliptical galaxy 654 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Centaurus, as a possible outlying member of the infamous Shapley Supercluster.
Bio
ESO 383-76 is a big dude. He is the galaxy you don't want to be messed around with. He is new to the party, and asserts his dominance. At 1.76 million light-years he is the largest galaxy currently known and listed at the top of the List of Largest Galaxies. He holds that crown and keeps it with high regard. He is assertive, kind of petty, but also acknowledges others and their achievements. He got his huge size by infesting on his smaller neighbors in his cluster early on in his life.
As the largest galaxy, he has no tolerance on claimants who use other metrics of size to say that they are the "largest." He upholds that galaxies should be measured only by isophotes or 90% light diameters. This is the reason why he hates IC 1101 and Alcyoneus, because they use other metrics like haloes or radio jets, which inflate their size to assert they are the largest. Of course, this is not accepted by the experts, and regard him as the rightful claimant.
He is friends with fellow large galaxies such as ESO 306-17 and NGC 6872, and this was his general attitude. He however is fearful of Abell 1413-BCG, which might possibly be the strongest claimant to steal his title. However, without the data to back it up, he can stay comfortable with his throne.
