Brown dwarfs are a type of star that formed the same way as stars but failed to get enough mass (usually less than 80 Jovian masses) and gas to create nuclear fusion, and are technically failed stars. These stars are the coldest type of stars and can get as hot as 2,550 degrees Kelvin (note the Sun is as hot as 5,778 K). However, if two brown dwarfs collide with each other, they will have enough mass and temperature to create nuclear fusion since they are already a red dwarf.
